We stay focused throughout the year on the needs of the people we care about.  During the holiday season, we work really hard to do everything we can to make sure the holidays are as joyful as possible for our families with little expectation of anything special for ourselves.

We can benefit from living a life of Gratitude. Earlier this year, I received an invitation to participate in The Gratitude Book Project of 2013. After agreeing to join the book project, I was given instructions to answer the following question in an essay of 200 words maximum, "What are you grateful for?" I will share my entry toward the bottom of this e-mail.
 
Taking time to reflect and share gratitude can work wonders for the soul of a caregiver. We can often feel sad and overwhelmed with thoughts of the approaching holiday season.  As the years pass, holidays do not seem the same as close family members and friends pass away or become frail with age.  For some of us who serve as leaders and caregivers, we tend to be the organizer and host for holiday meals with family.  This can add increased responsibility and work to already overflowing plates of tasks for home and work.

It is vital that we and the people we support make our voices heard on this election day.  Voting is not necessarily convenient but is very important to ensure that your interests as a caregiver are preserved.
