We can often start the day tired after a night of difficult and interrupted sleep. One of the primary culprits of sleep deprivation is our unsettled minds. At night, it can be challenging to fall asleep at a decent time because we have disturbing and stressful thoughts running through our heads. These thoughts may include: things we have done that we wish we had done better, a recent troubling appointment or interaction, worry about financial and medical issues, or anticipation of challenging tasks and responsibilities over the coming days with co-workers or family members.

We are just one week into the New Year and the holiday season of 2012 may already seem like a distant memory. For some, the end of the holiday season brings a sense of relief as all of the commitments with family, friends, and co-workers can be overwhelming when added to the already overflowing plate of caregiving responsibilities. A few weeks ago, the Energizing Tip of the week described how to set achievable and meaningful New Year's Resolutions. A few people have shared with me what they are resolving in order to live a more healthy and fulfilling life in 2013. A few shining examples include:

To attend a Zoomba class once per week.
To book a one week vacation at a beach resort. (This person has not taken a vacation in over 3 years).
To join a choir.
To set aside 15 minutes every morning for meditation and prayer.
To establish a better relationship with my siblings.
