Think about the caregiving activities, tasks, and responsibilities that you pack into a single day. Can you check them off with ease, or are you feeling sapped of energy by mid-day?  Perhaps you are still waiting for your morning coffee to kick in and it never feels like it does.
 
If sustained energy is your goal, meditation may be a tool you'll want to keep close at hand. The key is developing a calm and peaceful state of consciousness that allows you to conserve energy that may otherwise be drained during the day.

You Deserve to Love Yourself

When was the last time you walked up to a mirror, looked into your eyes, and said, "I love you?"  I know this sounds like a weird question.  Perhaps you have never done it.  In fact, the thought of saying and believing that you love yourself with all of your heart might make you feel uncomfortable. It was for me the first time I gave myself a full self-love moment.  
 
Why are we so uncomfortable with loving ourselves?  Don't you hope that the people you care about love themselves?  If we lived in a world that promoted messages of self-love and encouraged people to do so openly, what would the world be like?

No, I am not talking about booze.  Yet, relaxing with a yummy tropical drink (even one without alcohol) can be very refreshing and satisfying during a warm summer day.  The drink reminder has to do with the risk of dehydration, especially during the warmest months of the year.
 
Next to oxygen, water is the nutrient most needed for life. In the body, water acts as a solvent, coolant, lubricant, and transport agent. It's needed to regulate body temperature, carry nutrients, remove toxins and waste materials, and provide the medium in which all cellular chemical reactions take place.  Water serves as one of our greatest fuels for energy.

Declare Your Independence

In the United States, we are a day away from the 4th of July, which is the celebration of the founding of our nation and FREEDOM.  Even if you do not live in the U.S., I am sending a wish for all caregivers to declare independence from the tyranny of "stinkin' thinkin'."  

When you declare your independence from the negative thoughts and self-doubts that run through your mind, you can live your life more fully.  You are a caregiver and a rock of strength for those who depend on you.  During this time of celebrating independence, take time to celebrate you and make plans over the coming days to try something new and experience the brilliance you bring to the world.
