Our calendars tend to be filled with appointments, meetings, and other household/work related activities.  We also tend to add loved one or client social and recreational activities to our calendars as we remain focused on keeping them active and engaged.
 
On the other hand, caregivers can go for multiple weeks without participating in a preferred activity themselves.  No wonder why it is so difficult and sometimes depressing when starting a new week.

If you live in the United States, the Memorial Day Weekend has now passed. I hope you and your family enjoyed an amazing holiday as you reflected on the sacrifices made by our heroes in uniform to preserve our freedom.

I spent a wonderful and relaxing weekend with great friends and family members.  And, I thoroughly enjoyed peeking at the many social media posts by friends who sent messages of admiration and love to those who have served and sacrificed.  As I personally reflected on the meaning of Memorial Day, I sent my own message which I will take a moment to share here.

Summer time offers welcome opportunities to enjoy the outdoors with friends and family members.  For those who live in cold weather climates, it can feel liberating to come out from hibernation and enjoy some warm sunshine, a dip in a refreshing pool, and the first burger (or veggie burger) of the season.

Gotta Love The Candy Man (or Woman)!

As family caregivers and health and human services leaders...

At our low energy points of the day, we may seek a vending machine for a yummy boost of energy.  Or, we may store a selection of candy in a special drawer.  In my case, it is a chocolate cabinet.  

I always keep chocolate on hand and carry candy with me to share.  I treasure bringing a smile to the faces of others with such a simple and delicious treat.
